Karen Clarkson
Contemporary Artist
Karen Clarkson is an American contemporary artist born in 1972 in Detroit, Michigan. Her works have been inspired by the human experience, cultures, and architecture from her travels around the world. Her works have also been influenced by Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, AnneTruitt, Donald Judd, and several other artists within the field of modernism. She works primarily in oils and her works are bold and colorful. Using color, movement, and light, she takes in the world around her and recreates it. Her goal is to create works that are visceral and allow the viewer to experience and bond with the works on an intimate level. Karen's works are in collections around the world and have been featured in several articles, local venues, and galleries across the east coast of the United States.
